Where there is money, there is bound to be corruption and frauds. For a new investor or Forex trader, it might be difficult to spot a Forex fraud. The CFTC or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the United States provides a clear warning to all consumers to take necessary precautions beforehand. There is a new federal law called the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, which provides authority and jurisdiction to CFTC for enhancing legal action again people or firms involved in fraudulent foreign currency exchange activities. In the last few years, the financial investment market has not only grown in proportion but it has also become complex. The Forex trading is legitimate but it has not been spared of the touts who with their fraudulent activities have been ripping people off.

The easiest way to attract customers into a foreign exchange scam is by promoting it through a newspaper. Advertisements can be taken out in newspapers, announced on radio programs and even promoted through the worldwide web. Heres a list of warning signs to help you know the difference between a fraud and a real trading.

1. There are people or firms who will approach you with Forex trading offers that may sound very lucrative and might sound too good to be true. Logically speaking, such trading offers cannot exist because like stock exchange, you can never win all the time in foreign exchange. Then there are traders who have been working for such a long time and yet they sometimes lose money. So ask yourself, how is it possible for me to make a quick profit so easily? There is nothing free. If you have acquired a handsome amount of money and if you want to invest, then it is better than you call a registered financial advisor or approach an financial firm. Those people who approach you with lucrative offers already know about your money and are trying to find a way to get their hands on the money.

2. Many a times, you might see Forex trading related advertisements in your local newspaper where firms with names unheard of are trying to sell you the idea of a profit, they guarantee profits. Nowhere in this world can profits be guaranteed whether its the stock exchange, mutual funds, bank accounts, business or any other investment tool. If someone has given an advertisement saying guaranteed $500 a week then thats a scam. It is better to go to the next page.

3. There are certain companies who will call you up too on your house phone or the mobile and tell you that they have excellent opportunities where you can make a lot of money without going through any financial risk. Avoid such companies! Risk is the main factor associated with foreign exchange dealings and risk keeps the market alive. So how can someone offer you a foreign exchange opportunity with zero financial risk? Your investment will never be secure with such people.
